Course of Study: Elementary School

Elementary School Program of Study

Grades 3-5

The Oberle Academy’s elementary curriculum is built to support students in grades 3–5 with a well-rounded, accessible, and engaging academic experience. Aligned with Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOL), the program focuses on foundational development in language arts, reading, math, science, and social studies, while offering robust opportunities for creative expression, physical activity, and individualized support.

Students receive instruction in core academic subjects that emphasize reading comprehension, writing, numeracy, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Social studies instruction includes Virginia history and early U.S. history, and science explores age-appropriate topics in life, physical, and earth sciences.

Beyond the core, students participate in art, music, drama, physical education, and computer science, allowing them to develop creativity, confidence, and collaborative skills. Oberle’s focus on academic support and functional skills ensures that students with learning or behavioral challenges receive personalized instruction tailored to their needs.

With small class sizes, experienced educators, and a supportive environment, the elementary program at Oberle fosters both academic growth and the social-emotional readiness needed for success in middle school and beyond.
